Luiz Bonfá (1922-2001) is one of Brazil's most influential guitarists and composers. An iconic figure of the bossa nova movement, he helped introduce Brazilian music to the world in the late 1950s and 1960s. Bonfá achieved international fame for his work on Black Orpheus, a film that won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
